Last Saturday, 2nd July 2011 we join the city tour organized by P’Ngew as the program prepared for us the international exchange student to walk around Chiang Rai. As early as 7am we gathered at the guard house and start our journey of the day according to the plan right after that.
Our first destination is to go to Wat Huaypru in front of our Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) to make our offering to the Buddhist-Monk and also get the blessing of the Monk for the safety and peace.
Then we go back to MFU to the Lan Dao Garden to have a photo section there and then go to the Botanical Garden to plant a tree as a culture for every student in this university will plant one for blessing.
At there we also get to see our senior’s tree as shown by P’Ngew. She suggested us to come back after ten years to see how our trees grow up. But for me it is just as a synonym that reminds us to do something for the mother earth. This is just a small start for us to do so. In fact if got the ability we should have growth one by ourselves from a seed to a small tree and watch the full process of growth.
After that we heading towards Wat Rong Khun also called as the White Temple as the building is all constructed white in colour. This temple is built by Chalermchai Kositpipat, the famous Thai visual Buddhist imagery artist. It has been called as one of the Seven Wonders of Thailand.
We are amazed by the grand building and not forget to mention that the toilet which is built in golden colour, we thought it was another temple.
Next we go for giving our respect to the founder of Chiang Rai, King Mengrai the Great Monument. The King Mengrai (1239-1311) was the 25th King of Ngeon Yang, the First king of Chiang Mai, Capital of the Lanna Kingdom.
Then, we leave the King Mengrai Monument for the Mae Sai District at the mean time we have our lunch in the bus. As the journey is long, we have some activities in the bus, which that everyone of a representative of a country to sing our local song. So immediately after reach Mae Sai we start to shop and try to hunt some souvenir to go back to our country.
Lastly, we go to Chiang Sean District to the famous tourist place, the Golden Triangle which includes Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. We get to cross to Laos by boat also.
At there the people that make me remember the most is non other than the kids that come near to our boat to ask for some donation but we are reminded not to do so. These remind me really feels how lucky I am to born in a good family and having an opportunity to study. Learning the way to appreciate everything I had.
Indeed a nice trip that we had in Chiang Rai here. Next we are looking forward to the next trip we are going to join. Say Cheers!
